I wanted to be able to tell superhero stories. I'm not a qualified comic artist, and no one at Marvel is calling me to come write the next Spider-Man movie (even though I'd kill it). So I thought, "perhaps in this relatively new medium of storytelling through actual play of a TTRPG, I could get the chance to bring my world of heroes alive."
That's when I struck my first problem. I didn't find a superhero TTRPG that really gripped me. I didn't want my players to be overwhelmed with rules. I didn't want to have to choose from an enormously long list of options when picking superpowers. I didn't want the emotional beats of superhero stories to be gamified and thus taken away from my experience and creativity. What I wanted was an engine for my superhero make-believe. I wanted to build the heroes I dreamed of as a kid and then let them soar.
So one night, stewing on this problem, I sat up with a jolt and began to write the beginnings of Teamup in an old composition journal. My thought was, "this'll be easy. It'll only take me a few weeks." Two and a half years later, Teamup was done. We hit many mechanical roadblocks; we threw out so many ideas; we played and honed the game until it became what it is now. And y'all… It's good. It's real good. It's fun, it's brutal, it makes you feel like the superhero you've always wanted to be.

You can support us at patreon.com/teamuprpg. There you can purchase the game. More than that, though, start listening to our play show, The Teamup Play Show Podcast. Leave us a review or give it a share. Thanks for being here and reading.
Much love,
