I'm alone.
All I've got is myself I guess. So here I am talking to myself. It reminds me of the isolated training chambers. I've been able to put that horror behind me for so long now. What makes this worse, is that Hannah won't be in my bunk tonight.
I've set up a camouflage tent in between the fighting Evos and the armies of the world pushing against them.
It became hard to convince my team that I wasn't an enemy or at least an Evo sympathizer. I missed too many important shots. I missed too many important targets. Flubbed too many important missions.
I tried telling them that I couldn't access my power any more. Tried to tell them I didn't know why. They said even if I didn't have power I was still a better sniper, still a better asset than my performance would suggest.
They're right.
I don't know what's wrong with me. It's not just that I can't connect to my power, it feels like there's a power against me. A twitch in my steadying, a random wind at the wrong time, an out of sync breath all causing me to miss targets.
So they called me a sympathiser. They called me an Evo. They called me a traitor. All of them. I overheard them. They were in a mission briefing without me. I heard them setting me up. They'd put me in a nest for the next mission, and they'd blow me to hell with the Evo scum.
All of them. Even Hannah. Oh my god… my Hannah. My Rose.
I played dumb. Set a dummy up in my nest and watched myself die. Then I ran until I got here. I'll try and hide in plain sight with the Evos. My team's good enough to find me anywhere else I'd run.
They'll know I faked getting blown up by now. I'll hide within my enemy's ranks. The only place I might survive. The war's not going well for either side.
Dear God, please fix my hurt feelings. And please forgive me for killing my team… even Hannah. Oh my god… my Hannah. I'm going to kill them all.
